The Wheels to The Wave
Climate Chains are preparing to cycle 250 miles from Manchester Airport to London for The Wave march on Saturday, 5th December 2009. The Wave is being organised by the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition ahead of the crucial UN Climate Change Summit in Copenhagen. Cyclists will set out for London on Tuesday, 1st December, visiting some of the UK’s biggest climate crime scenes on route. Climate Chains hope to raise awareness as they go and help make The Wave the UK’s biggest ever demonstration in support of action on climate change.
The ride will commence from Manchester Airport and make stops at East Midlands and Heathrow airports to emphasise the need to end domestic and reduce short haul flights. And journey via the coal-fired power stations at Ratcliffe on Soar, Nottinghamshire and Didcot, Oxfordshire and the E.ON’s UK Headquarters to highlight the need to quit dirty coal.
