CVMA: Alexander Wins Stock 1000 Shootout – Roadracing World Magazine

CVMA Racing Round 2 2022/2023 Winter Series

Round two of the 2022/2023 CVMA Winter Series kicked off October 29-30 under sunny skies, warm weather and a fast-paced Chuckwalla Valley Raceway. Some of the fastest racers in the whole country came out in force for a very crowded event and great competition. The races over the weekend were fantastic with riders very close in all classes for the win!

On Friday, a group of five racers graduated from the New Racer School and received their racing license.

In Saturday qualifying, David Kohlstaedt was the fastest on a middleweight bike clocking a lap time of 1:48.644. Justin Bordonaro lapped in 1:52.375 to be fastest on a lightweight bike and Owen Williams was fastest on an Ultra Lightweight with a lap time of 1:54.043. Corey Alexander was the fastest of them all in qualifying with a lap time of 1:44.935 on his Open class bike.

Saturday

Saturday’s stars included Kohlstaedt and Williams, each winning two races. Mallory Dobbs won the Femwalla race and broke a long-standing lap record with a lap time of 1:50.596.

Sunday

In the first race of the day, the Stock 1000 Shootout, Alexander punched the holeshot and led from start to finish. Jack Bakken was able to take second place at the start, followed by Bryce “The Prince” Prince and Anthony “Lug Nut” Norton. Prince took second place from Bakken on lap four. Norton was then able to make a brave pass on the brakes at Turn 14 on Bakken to take the final podium spot. The end result was Alexander for the win with Prince second and Norton third.

Bordonaro was leading the race with heavy pressure from Wyman right behind. Bordonaro set a new lap record in lap four only for Wyman to better it in lap five by setting the new record at 1:50.747 lap. Unfortunately, Wyman’s bike suffered a mechanical problem on lap seven, handing second place to Glaefke. The end result Bordonaro with the win, Glaefke second and Adam Faussett third.

The result of the Formula Ultra Lightweight Shootout was established from the start of the race. Williams with the holeshot/win, Kreece Elliott second and Quinn Swift third.

In the Supersport Middleweight Shootout, Kohlstaedt got the holeshot and the win. At the start, Deion Campbell was able to follow Kohlstaedt and put some pressure on but unfortunately had a spectacular crash in Turn 10 on lap three, ceding position to Sahar Zvik. Zvik then made a big mistake on lap seven as he moved back to fourth where he finished. The end result, Kohlstaedt took the win, Tyler Olmstead finished second and Brian Berdan took the final podium spot.
