RAIPUR: The Public Service Commission of Chhattisgarh (PSC) is holding an exam for the first time to recruit peons. The exam, which will take place on September 25, will consist of a written test of 150 points at the first level. Also, an essential criterion is that each candidate must know how to ride a bike.

With this selection process, the state government agency goes beyond its usual exercise to hold competitions for the selection of eligible candidates for the various civil service and departmental positions. The exam to fill peon positions will consist of multiple-choice questions with negative scoring.

The number of candidates selected for the second phase will be five times the vacancy. They will have to take another evaluation test comprising a written composition worth 50 points. In addition, all candidates must be registered with the job exchange.

According to the PSC, more than 2.25 lakh youths have completed the forms for the 91 advertised positions, for which the eligible educational qualification is Class 8. To assess cycling skills, no test will be conducted and candidates who take the written exam will have to commit to riding a bike.

Of the 91 positions advertised, 80 are for the General Administration Department while the remaining candidates will be selected for the PSC office. “There will be an objective type and written exam, but there will be no physical assessment to judge candidates’ cycling skills,” said JK Dhruv, Secretary of Chhattisgarh PSC. The objective type questions will test candidates knowledge on general knowledge of India and Chhattisgarh.
