HDSCL to install bicycle docking stations in colleges | Hubballi News

Hubballi: Students at various colleges will soon be able to use Bikes close to them campus.
Keeping in mind the health of students and after conducting research on the possible use of bicycles, Hubballi-Dharwad Smart City Limited (HDSCL) has planned to set up docking stations according to the convenience of the students.
HDSCL focuses on university areas in Hubballi to dedicate the service of public bike sharing (PBS). HDSCL officials have identified more than 10 locations for docking stations to park bicycles in Vidyanagar and other areas and are working on a war footing.
According to sources, HDSCL officials recommended homestays based on their investigation, in which they had access to the strength of students staying in hostels, PGs, and places they visit like centers tutoring.
Abdul Jabbar, Director, ICT, HDSCL, said, “We surveyed student numbers, hostels, PGs, transport connectivity and others to provide last mile connectivity and plan detailed survey reports. On their basis, work on docking stations was launched.
As per the plan, HDSCL decided to provide three docking stations in and around BVB Engineering College in Vidyanagar. A visitor center will be set up on the premises of the college and work will begin soon. “Reception centers will be set up. Similarly, docking centers will be set up near Khode Hostel, Chetana College, IBMR College, Rashtrotthana School, Kumarpark, Global College at Lingaraj Nagar, Taj Nagar, Lohia Nagar and other locations within a month, a declared HDSCL MD. “We have asked the contractors to set up the docking stations at the earliest, and the PBS system will be launched soon. Already 19 docking stations have been installed in Hubballi, including those near the colleges,” a- he added.
HDSCL is setting up a public bike sharing (PBS) scheme in Hubballi at a cost of Rs 8.5 crore. As part of the project, the bicycle docks are almost ready. The dock has 10 places to park and lock bicycles. While 19 docking stations have been completed, the acquisition of bicycles and redistribution vehicles has been completed. Total 310 mechanical bicycles, 30 electric bicycles (pedal assistance) total 340 bicycles, 34 docking stations, mobile application, bicycle redistribution vehicle, five years of operation and maintenance are the components of the project.
Trinity Technologies and Software Solutions Pvt Ltd, based in Hubballi, is handling the project.
