This position operates out of our full-service bike shop in the bustling Alberta District in northeast Portland. Our high-volume store is staffed with experienced mechanics and salespeople from a variety of cycling backgrounds who provide compassionate customer service to a wide range of riders. Under the supervision of the workshop management team, the Bike Mechanic will strive to respond consistently and efficiently to our customer’s requests and scheduling efforts.

• Evaluate and repair bikes for customers, repair bikes for retail and for use in our programs
• Help with the purchase of new and used bicycles, parts and accessories
• Contribute to the retail environment – answering phones, maintaining a safe, clean and organized work area
• Work collaboratively with the rest of the team to achieve goals
• Move and lift bikes up to 50 lbs. is an integral part of this job, but reasonable accommodations can be made
• Support fundraising efforts at the point of sale

• 3+ years of mechanical experience
• Constant concern for quality and details
• Ability to achieve quantitative production and service objectives
• Effective communicator
• Ability to work in a collaborative environment
• Demonstrated commitment and respect for diversity, equity, inclusion, sustainability and diversity
• Ideal candidate has 5+ years experience working in a high volume bike shop
• Fluency in Spanish strongly desired ($1 hourly premium for fluency)
• Familiarity with the Lightspeed operating system

SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week
COMPENSATION: $19.00 to start
BENEFITS: health, dental, vision, life and more with approx. value of $4,800/year
PTO up to 18 days/year with approx. value of $2,500/year

KN95 are mandatory PPE for staff when working on site (masks provided for you). HVAC units and air purifiers in every room are equipped with MERV-13 filters. Doors and windows are kept open for ventilation whenever possible. Customers are required to wear masks inside the store.
