Mahindra Racing is on a mission to move up the competitive ladder in Formula E, and for that, it’s bringing in a host of new changes. Frédéric Bertrand has been appointed as the team’s new CEO, replacing Dilbagh Gill, who recently stepped down. Bertrand will report to Mahindra Racing President Asha Kharge and will be based at the team’s headquarters in Banbury, England.
Bertrand comes out of a career rich in history, notably with his involvement with the FIA in various roles. He started with the organization ten years ago as head of the athletic department. In recent years, he has led the organization’s appeal to the modern generation, with a focus on esports and the partnership with the Olympics to create the FIA Motorsport Games. He was also director of Formula E in a previous term.
Speaking on his appointment, he said: “I am delighted and extremely excited to join Mahindra Group to lead its racing business. I have had the privilege of witnessing the growth of the Mahindra Formula E team and am proud to have been tasked with leading the team to even better performance and results. The coming months will be tough and will require a lot of work, but the objective is clearly to be on the pace in what promises to be an ultra-competitive field of manufacturers and teams. It’s a new chapter and a major challenge in my career, and I can’t wait to start!
