The need for advanced large-scale electronics continues to evolve, driven by improved performance and functionality, as well as exceptional technological innovation. Since its establishment in 1949, Matsuo Electric has continued its business as a technology-oriented company under the principle of “quality first”. In addition to our tantalum capacitors, we have manufactured and sold circuit protection components and film capacitors to meet the needs of generations with reliable technology.
Circuit Protection Components began in 1994 with the manufacture and sale of the smallest chip type circuit protection components in the world at that time. In recent years, we have met the needs of small surface mount type high current fuses with maximum 100A and automotive circuit protection components which require high and stable quality.
The main factory, Fukuchiyama Factory in Kyoto Prefecture, has acquired the quality management system, IATF 16949:2016 certification for the automotive industry, and is engaged in the design and production of electrolytic capacitors chip-type tantalum solids and circuit protection elements. In addition, all our sites have acquired the environmental management system, ISO 14001: 2015 certification, are engaged in activities to analyze and reduce the environmental risks associated with the company’s activities, and engaged in the development of products to reduce environmental impact.
We will continue to contribute to society by developing and manufacturing products that respond quickly to user needs using our global marketing network and organizational structure.

Lithium-ion batteries are now widely used in small devices such as mobile computers and smartphones, as well as in power tools, electric-assist bicycles and xEVs.
Lithium-ion batteries have a larger capacity than other types of batteries and have a high energy density that allows a large amount of current to flow stably. However, overloading or short circuiting can cause a serious accident. Therefore, the safety standards of each country require protection of products using lithium-ion batteries. In addition, due to improved performance of various devices, there is an increasing need for high voltage, high current and high cut-off performance protection elements.
In response to these needs, Matsuo Electric will offer a range of small size surface mount, high current, high voltage and high cut-off fuses.
High Current Product (Microfuse JAG/JAJ/JAK)
The JAG Type / JAJ Type / JAK Type Micro Fuse (Size 3216) is an optimum surface mount fuse for circuit protection of small lithium-ion batteries such as laptop computers. The characteristics are small, high current, even melting characteristics. It is an excellent product in terms of quick disconnection and resistance to peak currents.
The JAG type was aligned up to the conventional 4 A, but with an extension up to 10 A and a wide range from 0.5 A to 10 A, allowing selection to suit various equipment and applications
JAJ type / JAK type is a new structure unique to Matsuo Electric which adopts metal plate as fuse element to deal with circuit current of 10A or more. The external terminal connection area is larger than that of the JAG wire fuse type to improve the stability of the connection section. Surface mount type JAJ type/JAK type (size 3216) has rated current of 10A, 12.5A, 16A, 20A and cut-off current of 100A.
High voltage/high current/high cutoff product (JHC high current micro fuse)
JHC type high current micro fuse (size 7358/size 1173) is suitable for external short circuit protection of medium-sized lithium-ion batteries such as power tools and power-assisted bicycles, as well as protection of electrical circuits such as UPS servers. The integrated structure of the fuse element with terminal realizes a high current rating up to a maximum of 100 A, even if it is a surface mount type. It also has high cut-off characteristics (1500 A, 110 VDC), which makes it ideal for protecting the circuits of lithium-ion batteries, whose performance is increasing.
The fuse has little environmental influence, with a surface temperature rise of 75°C or less when the rated current is applied. In addition, the case is made of alumina ceramic, and the inside of the case has a unique structure to improve the safety when melting.
In the future, we will work on developing fuses with higher withstand voltage and higher breaking performance.
