Pony Express, the bike tour may cross paths in Tahoe today

The Journey of Hope bike ride is expected to intersect with the Pony Express Re-ride at Lake Tahoe today.

The Pony Express is scheduled to arrive in South Lake Tahoe at 5 p.m., while the bike tour organized by the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity is scheduled to travel from Jackson, Calif., to South Lake Tahoe today.

The re-rider is scheduled to arrive in Carson City at 12:30 p.m. en route to Sacramento.

Cyclists are due to spend a day at the lake on Thursday before descending to Carson City.

On Friday, Western Nevada College and the Nevada Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities are hosting a friendship party hosted by the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada.

The fraternity riders travel across the country to raise awareness and donate for people with disabilities, according to their website.

Community members are invited to attend Journey of Hope from 5-7 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club located at 1870 Russell Way in Carson City.

Free food, raffle prizes, music and dancing, activities for children are planned, as well as resources and information to help people with disabilities or their disabled relatives.
