The Delfast Top 3.0i: A True “Long Range” Electric Bike | In itself

A deep dive in a high-performance means of transport

Not so long ago I bought an electric bike because it could fold and was “portable”. I didn’t give much thought to his range as I didn’t intend to go very far at the time. It’s surprising how much my thinking has changed since owning one of these bikes. I rarely fold up my current one and throw it in my car. More importantly, I can see the value of a bike with longer range. This is where the Delfast Top 3.0i comes in.

First, I wanted a little more information about Delfast, and was quickly surprised to find out that it was a Ukrainian company. Their original intention was to provide Kyiv with a reliable courier service that would allow its delivery people to maneuver quickly through traffic over long distances. Discovering inferior bike offerings at the time led them to develop their bikes, which became the fastest on the market with the longest range. The exciting part of this story is that customers and spectators noticed the bikes Delfast had created and expressed a desire to buy them.

As recently as 2017, Delfast shut down its courier business and began focusing solely on producing these industry-leading e-bikes. They had a successful business on Kickstarter, and the rest is history. In Delfast’s own words:

Our mission in Delfast is to transform the future of transport, tackling climate change by delivering crossover e-bikes designed for city and off-road use. We are committed to producing electric vehicles with zero air emissions and with a carbon neutral impact on the environment

This brings us to Delfast’s latest offering called the Top 3.0i. In this review, we will take an in-depth look at this bike to see if it is worth the price. We’ll be looking at build quality, battery life, range, features, and more.

Manufacturing quality
The first thing you’ll notice about the Delfast Top 3.0i is that it’s a well-built machine. Every component feels strong and sturdy, from the frame to the tires. This e-bike can take a beating and keep going. In many ways it looks and rides more like a motorcycle. One of the nicer upgrades is the carbon-reinforced belt, rather than a typical chain.

Battery life is one of the most impressive things about the Delfast Top 3.0i. This bike is equipped with a powerful 72V 48Ah Li-ion battery with a unique Battery Management System (BMS). It also has an impressive torque reaching 182nm. That’s amazing for an e-bike. You can easily use it as your primary mode of transportation without worrying about running out of juice halfway to your destination. Typical recharge time is around 6 hours.

The Delfast Top 3.0 has a maximum range of 200 miles before needing to be recharged. That’s more than enough for most people’s daily needs. Even if you have to travel long distances for work or school, this electric bike will get you there without any problems. You can easily make several short trips without having to recharge the battery.

The Delfast Top 3 .0i is loaded with features that make driving it a pleasure. First, it has a 750W motor that delivers plenty of power when needed, but doesn’t drain the battery too quickly when you don’t. It is offered to you in street legal mode as a class 2 bike. This means that it will reach 20 mph in throttle mode only. This is perfect for those who want to ride fast but still want their e-bike to last a long time between charges. For the more adventurous and less range-worried, there’s an Unlimited mode that takes this bike’s speed to a maximum of 50 mph.

Additionally, the Delfast Top 3 .0i comes with LED headlights and taillights for riding at night or in low-light conditions, as well as turn signals so drivers know what you plan to do next. It also has a spacious rear rack for carrying groceries or other items. Finally, it has several different riding modes to customize your experience based on how you feel or what you’re trying to accomplish.

The previously mentioned Battery Management System (BMS) is one of the latest upgrades to this bike. By working with the bike app, you can monitor bike power, lock/unlock bike, arm/disarm alarm, use “Find My Bike” function with GPS enabled, and monitor bike speed. It gives new meaning to a smart bike!

Conclusion: The Delfast Top 3 .0i is a great electric bike with lots of features. It’s well built, has great battery life, great battery life, and comes with things you never knew you needed. If you’re looking for an electric bike that can do it all, this one’s for you, but at what price? You can expect a starting price of $6999, not including some of the various upgrades such as a possible saddle seat:

Or phone docking station:

A $7000 bike is a little steep, but if you’re looking for a durable and capable bike, the Delfast should tick all the boxes. Note added: I will let you know in advance; it is not light exceeding 150 pounds.
